The conclusion I drew was "There MUST be a structure to the nucleus of the atom and this what ever it is, correlates to the specific elements and there isotopes"

Chemical bonds have specific angles to them, this was another clue that the ; connection point is specific. Spin is another clue that points out there is 'symmetry' going on, in fact Spin has 3 values i think, the 3 rotation axis of a sphere. Also the fact that the force inward is / must be huge and this then somehow stays stable, hence there must again be a structure.
